OHSAA Sanctions Lacrosse - Jun 5, 2015

On June 5, by unanamous vote, Ohio became the 20th state to fully sanction lacrosse as a high school sport, potentially paving the way for further growth in a state that has over 100 programs and a long list of current and former collegiate and professional stars.

The Buckeye State is the first to go fully sanctioned since North and South Carolina both did so in 2010. Three other states (California, Illinois and Missouri) offer state recognition, but are not championship sports.

According to Cincinnati.com, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Board of Directors passed the measure by an 8-0 margin this morning, and plans to offer the sport officially beginning with the 2016-17 school year.

The Ohio High School Lacrosse Association had 120 boys' varsity teams and 112 girls' varsity teams entering this spring, as well as many other programs at a club level.

Kilbourne Falls to Coffman in Semifinal - Jun 3, 2015

Ryan Agner, who was honorable mention all-league, was one of five senior starters for the Wolves.

The Worthington Kilbourne High School boys lacrosse team was confident heading into its home matchup with Dublin Coffman in a Division I Central Region semifinal May 27, as it had beaten the Shamrocks 9-4 on April 9.

The second-seeded Wolves couldn't complete the season sweep, however, as they fell to the fifth-seeded Shamrocks 11-10 in overtime to finish 15-5 overall.

"We thought we were going to beat them again, but Dublin Coffman has some good athletes and they got a lot better as a team since the first time we played them," junior attacker Jared Happ said.
