J.D. Englehart assumed the role of Head Coach in July 2014 after having served as the Colonials' Defensive Coordinator for the team's first two MCLA seasons. Englehart succeeds Joe Opron, who lead George Washington's lacrosse program from 2011-2014 and has stepped into the new role of Director of Lacrosse Operations. Englehart, a Baltimore, MD-area native, has been playing lacrosse since a young age. At the college level, he was a four year letterwinner at NCAA Division III Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA. While at W&L, he captained a Generals defense that held opponents to a 7.18 goals per game average over his career. He won the team's commitment award as a senior. He graduated in 2011 with a degree in business administration, having also studied finance at the London School of Economics. While at W&L, Englehart was one of three student-athletes appointed by the faculty to represent the student-athlete community on the university's athletics oversight board. He was also a founding member of the school's student-athlete mentor group, named "23" for the twenty-three varsity sports the school offered at the time of the group's inception. Prior to playing in college, Englehart played for the highly-regarded coach Jake Reed at Dulaney High School. Dulaney has won 10 Maryland State Championships in the history of the tournament's current format. Englehart continues to play competitively in DC-area club leagues. He works for a federal market intelligence firm in Washington, DC, and lives less than two miles from where the Colonials practice and play.
