2013: Elevated status of the organization to the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Division I by successfully applying for membership in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC), Northwest Division. 2012: In his first season as Head Coach, Coach Opron led the Colonials to a team best 12-4 record and its first ever Chesapeake Division 2 Conference Championship after beating the previously unbeaten #4 St. Mary's College of Maryland. On its way to the national championship game, the Colonials also defeated then #2 St. Joseph's and #6 Slippery Rock. The Colonials finished the season ranked #3 in the country after falling to the #1 University of Cincinnati Bearcats in the NCLL Division 2 National Championship in a hard-fought 13-14 overtime loss. Bio: Coach Opron comes to George Washington with a wealth of coaching experience at the high school and travel lacrosse levels, where he coached several HS All-Americans and eventual NCAA Division 1 student-athletes. A 2006 graduate of then MCLA Division 1 Oakland University, Opron helped lead the Golden Grizzlies past conference foe and perennial MCLA powerhouse the University of Michigan en route to two CCLA Conference Championships and two MCLA National Tournament appearances. Opron was three-time All CCLA, CCLA Offensive MVP, Team MVP, All-American, led the MCLA Division 1 in total goals his senior year, and was second in the country in total points. Prior to attending Oakland, Opron attended NCAA Division 2 Wheeling Jesuit University on a lacrosse and academic scholarship. Opron was also a two-time all-state attackman and a member of the varsity ice hockey team at Troy Athens High School in Troy, MI. Personal: Opron is currently a practicing attorney living in Washington DC. He is an attackman for the DC Bullets, a post-collegiate men's club team competing in the Stars and Stripes Elite DC Lacrosse league. Coach Opron holds degrees from Oakland University (BA - Political Science), the Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology (JD), and the Georgetown University Law Center (LLM - Securities and Financial Regulation).
