The Mens Lacrosse Club at the University of Memphis was founded in 2005. In 2006 the formation of the Mens Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) helped form a number of Lacrosse Clubs across the country. The Tigers Lacrosse Club was one of them. Joining the Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference (GRLC). The Tigers would compete in the GRLC D2 with regional teams such as Arkansas and Ole Miss. In 2008 the Tigers moved up to the GRLC D1 competing with teams lie Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, and Nebraska.

The Tigers success on the field was limited in the first years of the Club. The Tigers did produce a number of All-Conference Players with great season by Jeff Calligandes, Steve Schifani, and Ben Jenkins. In 2009 all 3 players were in the top 10 in PPG for the GRLC. Calligandes was 2nd in the Nation in PPG for the 2009 Season. In 2010 the Tigers had both the #1 and #2 players in the GRLC with Schifani and Jenkins leading the team, both would finish in the top 5 players in the MCLA that season.

In 2012 the Tigers were forced to go Independent and leave the MCLA and GRLC. Being an Independent team wouldnt last long. In 2013 the Tigers Lacrosse Club found a new home in the National Collegaite Lacrosse League (NCLL). The Club would join the Deep South Conference (DSC), with members Mississipi State, MTSU, Tennessee Tech, and UT-Chattanooga. In the first season as members the Tigers made a splash by advancing the the post-season for the first time in Club history. The Club would see a number of players selected to All-Conference and All-Conference Honorable Mention. Head Coach Garrett Wimberly would also receive the 2013 Deep South Conference Coach of the Year Award as well.
