CLA Mission Statement
Columbus Lacrosse Association
The Columbus Lacrosse Association is an organization who’s mission is to expand the sport of lacrosse throughout the City of Columbus in an effort to expose inner-city kids, and their families, to the oldest, fastest, and most exciting game in North America, while striving for academic excellence in the classroom.
The CLA Lax program is open to every student within the Columbus City School District, the largest in Ohio. Because we believe that our members are truly student athletes, we adhere to, and enforce, the academic participation requirements set forth by Columbus City Schools in order to emphasize the importance of education first, athletics second. It should go without saying that sportsmanship is at the heart of everything we do, how we act, and how we play. We will represent our Family, our City, our School, our Team, and ourselves at all times with dignity, honor, and respect. Humble in victory, humble in defeat shall be our creed.
Lacrosse has the second highest graduation rate of any NCAA sport and by expanding lacrosse to urban areas, it is our hope that someday, our CLA Lax players will be awarded the same opportunity to play lacrosse at the collegiate level as their suburban peers. Upon graduation from the high school and college levels, our hope is that our players, both male and female, will freely give their time and energy to become actively involved with our program to give back to younger players what was so freely given to them.
Truthfully, we want to expand our sport “all lacrosse the City.”
