Vikings defeat Sierra

The Vikings tonight were victorious over Sierra 14-4.  The game was not as lopsided as the score might indicate.  The Sierra team, the third community college lacrosse team in the state, played very competitively and with great heart in their first ever intercollegiate contest, continuously pressuring the Vikings on both offense and defense.  Great efforts by Chris Banks, James McIntyre, Gavin Cooke, and Devon Bahary and a very stingy defensive unit ultimately were all significant factors in the Viking victory.

Congratulations to coach Don Fagan and the Sierra lacrosse team for their perseverance and fortitude in launching the program.  The Vikings will look forward to seeing them again real soon in the Davis tournament on 10/27, as DVC's "B" team will take on the Wolverines.

Next up!  Santa Clara Tournament on Saturday, 10/20.  First game and tweetcast at 10:00 a.m. when the Vikings take on MCLA Division I, Santa Clara University.  Subsequent games with UC Santa Cruz and St. Mary's College will follow.
