Vikings Fall to Simon FraserOct. 14, 2013 Last Saturday evening, the Vikings hosted a determined NCAA D-2 Simon Fraser University lacrosse team intent on avenging last year's 9-5 loss to the Vikings. They did just that, defeating the Vikings 12-5. The "Clan" jumped out early to a 3-0 lead, before the Vikings pulled it together to score two consecutive goals to tighten the game. The fire power of SFU though proved to be too much for the young Vikings as observed by their tenacious defense and offense led by former NCAA D-1 standout, Tyler Kirkby, who ended the evening with five goals. An interesting note, however, is that on Sunday, SFU defeated another NCAA D-2 program, Notre Dame de Namur, 12-7. So all in all, the Vikings played tough and held strong throughout the night considering the strength of Simon Fraser. and the sting of defeat will better prepare them for their first ever conference game versus Santa Rosa Junior College this coming Saturday.
