UCSB SeniorsSanta Barbara, CA - Ten seniors on the UCSB 'A' and 'B' teams will play their last home game this weekend. 'B' Team seniors Lexie Cousens, Katie Cunningham, Iris Krehahn, Lindsey Moynihan and Kathy Trinh have a game against Chapman on Sunday that will factor into their post-season participation. A win against Chapman earns UCSB 'B' the WWLL South D2 automatic bid into the play-offs at UCLA April 17-18. A Chapman win creates a three-way tie for first among Chapman, UCLA 'B' and UCSB 'B'. In the case of a one goal win by Chapman one of two scenarios in the WWLL tie-breaking procedures puts UCSB 'B' in the play-offs. However, a 2 goal win by Chapman puts them in the play-offs. UCSB 'B' plays Chapman at 11am on Sunday on the Rob Field Turf.

UCSB 'A' Team seniors Maggie Aker, Brittany Barry, Sam Lutz, Fran Perrone and Monora Seth will play their last home game when the 5th ranked Gauchos host unranked Pepperdine at 11am on Saturday in Harder Stadium. UCSB stumbled against Cal Poly SLO last Saturday and they are still stinging from the 21-9 upset loss at the hands of the then 4th ranked Mustangs. Cal Poly replaced UCSB at 3rd in the national poll with the win.

Ten seniors involved in the program is an unofficial record for duration of participation on the teams. It is the highest count of upperclassmen the program has had in a long time.

"This is a great indicator that we're doing something right out there with our program," said UCSB head coach Paul Ramsey. "It is not often you see ten seniors on a team at the college level."

UCSB Senior Games:

  • Saturday, April 10th, 11am - Pepperdine at UCSB 'A' in Harder Stadium.
  • Sunday, April 11th, 11am - Chapman at UCSB 'B' in Harder Stadium.

These games are important to the respective seniors from the viewpoint of it being the last time they play at home. It's already going to be emotional. But then the 'B' Team has the added emotion of the whole "win and they're in" situation for the play-offs with a success against Chapman. The 'A' Team has already qualified for the play-offs but looks to rebound from the most lopsided loss in recent history with a solid performance against Pepperdine.
