From: Myron Molotky-Spring Lake Lacrosse President
To: All Spring Lake Lacrosse Athletes, Parents and Staff

Thank you for your patience as we have been waiting to deliver facts and actions regarding the policies moving forward with SL Lacrosse. This has been an evolving process that has changed the dynamics of the club from youth through high school teams.

Our thoughts are especially with our Seniors-Class of 2020 who have been impacted the most in our organization. Thank you for your leadership and commitment to SL Lacrosse. We wish you the best in your future endeavors and know that you will be driven by the same passion that you displayed over the years as an important part of Laker Lacrosse! 301 Laker Strong was your last season, but you are forever a part of Laker Lacrosse!

The Tradition of 22: Please share with your athletes the meaning of the 22 on their uniforms. Jarred Coleman is a former Laker laxer that passed away August 27, 2018 from injuries suffered in a horrific auto accident. Jarred’s legacy, as a former player and coach, will be honored eternally with SL Lacrosse. His commitment to the program as a mentor and coach laid the foundation for many former players to give back to our lacrosse community. In honoring Jarred, the uniform number 22 will be absent at all boys’ levels (other than #22 above the heart on all youth uniforms), with the exception of Boys Varsity, Starting in the 2019 season, each year moving forward a player will be chosen to wear the 22 jersey in honor of Jarred. The first recipient of this honor is current Ithaca College lacrosse player Dominik Molotky, #22, SL Class of 2019.

INFORMATION

As you are all aware, the 2020 SL Lacrosse Spring season is now officially cancelled as we follow the guidelines set at the state and school district levels.

1. All SL Athletic facilities are officially closed and are not to be used at this time. We will send out an announcement when the ban is lifted so that our athletes may continue to work on their skills and conditioning.

2. The SL Lacrosse Board is working on the refund policy for the lost season. We expect to issue refunds in the near future. Any questions should be directed to:  refundsllax@gmail.com

In preparing for the 2020 season, the club spent funds on needed equipment and gear. If you have a 5th thru 11th grade player and are able-willing to push your refund to next season, it will be greatly appreciated and will allow the club to continue planning the 2021 season. Please use the following email to express your desire to push fees forward: refundsllax@gmail.com

3. SL Lacrosse K-4 players will receive a refund less the cost of the pinnies ($25) ordered for all players. This was part of the fee to play included in the registration. We will distribute the pinnies when the Stay at Home ban is lifted. With the younger players who are devastated by this cancelled season, we feel the need to maintain the culture and excitement of being a Laker Lacrosse player.

4. The SL Lacrosse Board is considering summer options for our athletes as several opportunities are being discussed. Stay tuned for more information as we look into a local summer league option.

5. ALL SL Lacrosse coaching staffs have recommended workout materials for our athletes to use during this down time. We encourage the players to keep a stick in their hand and do their best to continue improving their skills and conditioning.

6. Our primary concern is the health and safety of our athletes and their families. We are following the path of the SL Athletic Dept based on recommendations by the Health Department and the Michigan state government. We hope that the entire SL Lacrosse family is healthy and safe!

We realize that this is an unprecedented action and we will continue to update the SL Lacrosse community as we receive news.

GO LAKERS!!

Spring Lake Lacrosse President
