2020 season announcement

To: All Spring Lake Lacrosse Athletes, Parents and Staff

Thank you for your patience as we have been waiting to deliver facts and actions regarding the policies moving forward with the 2020 lacrosse season. We have a clear path based on information received today. This will be an evolving process that we will continue to keep you up to date as information continues to change the dynamics of the club from youth through high school teams.

I received a call from the Spring Lake Athletic Department (Mr. Cavin Mohrhardt) and this is what we know right now:

1. ALL Youth team practices and evaluations are suspended effective today (3-13-2020) until further notice.
2. High School Teams will practice today as planned but will be suspended until further notice.
3. Spring Lake Lacrosse teams will not be allowed to hold practices involving any coaching staff. This includes organized “captains’ practices” or organized small group play.
4. Our athletes will have access to the middle school for wallball and the Yard for individual drills.
5. ALL SL Lacrosse coaching staffs will create recommended workout materials for our athletes to use during this down time. We encourage the players to keep a stick in their hand and do their best to continue improving their skills and conditioning.
6. Our primary concern is the health and safety of our athletes and their families. We are following the path of the SL Athletic Dept based on recommendations by the Health Department and the Michigan state government.

The great news is that the season is suspended rather than cancelled. It is unknown at this time what the near future brings. We are hopeful for the clearance to resume our lacrosse season.

We realize that this is an unprecedented action and we will continue to update the SL Lacrosse community as we receive news.  Any changes will be communicated immediately. If you do not hear anything…nothing has changed to that point.

Please keep your athletes focused as we hope to be up and running as soon as we get the clearance.
