San Diego, CA - UC Santa Cruz upset SBCC 12-9 to get the win in the WWLL State Championship semifinal. The Vaqueros outshot the Banana Slugs 25 to 16 but UC Santa Cruz freshman goalie Jordyn Feldman had a day with eleven saves and three SBCC attempts were wdie shots. It was an out of sync game for the Vaqueros at the least desirable time for it.  UC Santa Cruz marked took their time on every possession and worked for the best opportunity possible.  When the Vaqueros got the ball they rushed it trying to make up for possession time with more shooting.  It didn't work and SBCC were on defense for about 40 of the 60 minutes of game time and that added up to the loss.

The Vaqueros drop to 9-1 overall and will play Cal State Fullerton in the state third place game at 9:00am on Sunday morning on Field 3 at UC San Diego. Top seeded Cal State San Marcos beat the Titans 14-3 in the other semifinal. The Cougars will play UC Santa Cruz in the first place game on Field 1 at 10:00am on Sunday.
