OU Lacrosse vs Texas Tech Team Huddle

Baylor
The 2012 season started with a bad performance against LSA conference rival Baylor in our first game of 2012.  The entire Team looked rusty and out of sync and the final score ended up being 15-9 in a Sooner loss.

Rice
The next day, the OU team started slow but ultimately gained momentum and beat Rice University the 14-4.  A much better coordinated performance.  G. Purcell and M. Moore both had 3 goals and T. Barnhart and N. Ierullo had 2 goals each.

Texas Tech
This Friday, under the OU Soccer stadium lights, the OU team played LSA North Division arch rival Texas Tech and came away with a 16-6 win.  The OU offense played outstanding coordinated unselfish team offense and the defense absolutely outworked the Tech offense.  This was one of the most satisfying wins for the OU team in several years as we played as a team and just out hustled Tech in every phase of the game.  S. Lefton was stellar in the goal and was supported by M. Hawkins, D. Gibson, P. Dollahite and J. Voskuil.  N. Ierullo led the scoring with 6 goals, and P. Kitsos and M. Moore each had 3 goals.  In addition, T. Barnhart had 2 goals as well.  Great Total Team Win!!!

Texas Christian
The OU Men's lacrosse team lost a hard fought battle today against TCU9 - 6.  The game was held in Norman, OK and both teams played well and for 4 quarters.  With the score tied at 3 at the half, TCU capitalized on a couple of EMO opportunities to give them a gap which they kept throughout the rest of the game.

The OU defensive players, LS & SS, played absolutely outstanding and controlled the TCU offense.  Led in goal by S. Lefton; D. Gibson, M. Hawkins, P. Dollahite, K. Hendon and M. Dye worked with the short stick midfielders to deliver our best defensive game of the year thus far.  The OU offense was neutralized for much of the game by a solid TCU defense.  T. Barnhart led the scoring with 2 goals and P. Kitsos, M. Moore, G. Purcell and H. Crutsinger each added 1.

The difference in this game of well matched teams was the faceoffs and a few poor penalties.  We will continue our significant improvement week over week.  Next week is a big road trip to Lincoln, NE to play Nebraska, Iowa State and Marquette.

Thanks to our players parents, friends and fans who came out and supported the team this weekend.
