Warriors Take Early 1-0 Lead Before Allowing Six Straight

Using a six goal run from the 1st to the 2nd quarter Friday night, the Falcons of Jordan High School dispatched the visiting Warriors 12-4 in the first conference action of the year for each team.  It was the 7th all time meeting between the conference opponents, and the 7th victory for the Falcons.

Rufus Terry got the Warriors on the board early, giving them a 1-0 lead.  On a man-down play, attacker Brock Fuller found Terry cutting for the first goal of the night.  However, the Falcons scored twice in three and a half minutes to take a 2-1 lead into the second quarter.  They then scored four more before senior midfielder Jacob Ragland was able to dodge through several Jordan defenders and bury a shot home to make the lead 6-2.  Jordan scored one more to end the first quarter with a 7-2 lead.

The Warriors managed just one goal in the third quarter to Jordan's three, and it was senior Antonio Jones spinning his way through a pair of defenders to find the back of the net.  In the fourth quarter, each team traded goals, with Fuller finding Terry for a second time that night before the Falcons capped the scoring with their 12th and final goal.

Terry led the Warriors with two goals, while Fuller added his two assists and Jones and Ragland each added a goal.  Defensively, senior close defender Cedric Spence had a career day, picking up 8 ground balls (personal best) and causing three turnovers.  Senior close defender Justin Wilbanks also caused a career best three caused turnovers.  In the net, Christiain Tilley managed 13 stops before succumbing to injury midway through the second quarter.  Reggie Campos stepped in and filled his shoes admirably, making six saves in just over 30 minutes of action.

The Warriors fall to 2-2 (0-1 Conf-4) while Jordan improves to 3-1 (1-0 Conf-4).  Webb faces off with Southern Alamance away on Monday, while Jordan next sees the field Monday as well against Panther Creek.

Game Notes:  12 goals is the fewest ever scored against Webb by Jordan...Eight goals difference is the smallest margin of victory as well for the Falcons...With his 13 saves, Tilley now has 300 saves in his career...In just four games, Wilbanks already has more than half the caused turnovers he had last year.
