Warriors Face Riverside Next

Facing each other for the second time this week, the Jordan Falcons came to town and again showed why they are one of the top teams in the state, dropping 19 again on the Warriors and taking home the win.  It was the third game in as many days for the Warriors (a fourth was scheduled for Monday but was postponed due to weather issues). The Falcons got strong performances from everyone on the offensive end as well as the defensive end.  The defense shut the Warriors young (but steadily getting better) offense, and the offense played well on the night.

For Webb, the offense continued to show improvement, despite the score.  Getting many looks on cage, the Warriors were able to practice their offensive sets against a strong defense and continue to gain valuable game experience against strong teams like Jordan.  Defensively, Webb continued to grow, with the close defenders marking up their men exceptionally well (again, despite the score and considering the skill of the Jordan offense).  In goal for the Warriors, Christian Tilley continued his strong performance, stopping 18 shots, a huge majority of which were in close.

“This has been a challenging three game stretch for our team, playing Jordan twice in three days, and Riverside in between.  These are the two strongest programs in our conference and we have seen why.  Tonight Jordan again show how strong and experienced a team they are as they beat Webb 19-0.  I still believe, however, that our boys are playing exceptionally well for a first year program, and each game we learn something new that is making us a better lacrosse team.  This is all part of the process of becoming a competitive program.  We now have a well deserved spring break and won’t be back on the practice field until Thursday, Apr 8, 10 a.m., Webb practice field,” were Coach Farabee’s encouraging words after the game.

The next game for Webb is home, April 13th, against the Pirates of Conference 4 foe Riverside High School, while the Falcons next contest is at home the same day against the Northern Durham High School Knights.
