2007 Blue Ridge ClassicJul. 29, 2007 A much improved Greenville Lacrosse Club finished 4th at the 2007 Blue Ridge Classic hosted by the Asheville Lacrosse Club. Saturday action concluded with a 2-1-0 record, positioning GLC as 4th seed in the Sunday playoffs against Atlanta. Smokey Mountain LC handed us our only loss of the day, in what was a very close game ending 5-7. Columbia County LC played much better than our April 1st meeting and along with the rain held us to a 7 - 3 victory. Our greatly anticipated rematch against the Hurricanes from Charleston saw a fairly lopsided fisrt half as we came out to a quick start netting 4 goals in the first 3 minutes. Charleston fought back but never could recover ending the day with our second win, 8 - 6. Sunday brought the semi-final match ups with three undefeated teams, Atlanta (3-0), Asheville (3-0), Smokey Mountain (3-0), and GLC (2-1). Smokey Mountain (#2 Seed) defeated Asheville (#3 Seed) 10-6. Atlanta (#1 Seed) handed GLC (#4 Seed) their second loss of the weekend, 6-1. Atlanta faced Smokey Mountain in the championship game, defeating them 8-0. This is Atlanta's THIRD TITLE in a row at the Blue Ridge Classic.
