Shootout Action

23rd Annual Santa Barbara Shootout Sponsored by Brine
February 18 - 20, 2011

The 23rd Annual Santa Barbara Shootout was played  using a Rain Plan schedule. Games were played on the artificial turf fields available at UCSB, SBCC and Cal Poly SLO. Partial refunds of entry fees will be processed after the Shootout to account for referee game fees not paid out as a result of the reduced schedule of games. This is due by March 1st if you desire prompt processing.

More turf fields are in the future at UCSB. The Rob Field turf complex is going to be expanded by one full size field providing us with three Field Turf fields in one location. There is also a student fee initiative going on the ballot this spring to install 3 to 6 turf fields on Storke Field. If this passes it will result in 6 to 9 artificial turf fields being available for future Shootout use here at UCSB.

Ninety-five games were played over three days by 48 teams across four divisions of play. in the 22nd Annual Santa Barbara Shootout Sponsored by Brine. Thirty college teams played in the WDIA Division while the remaining 18 teams were in the Super, Competitive and U-19 divisions. The Shootout is a set schedule event with pre-determined match-ups to provide teams from all over the country the opportunity to play arranged games.

For the first time La Playa Stadium at SBCC hosted some Shootout games, courtesy of the SBCC Athletic Department and the new SBCC Women's Lacrosse Club. La Playa has seen lacrosse before. It was a location for the Semana Nautica 7 A-Side Co-Ed Lacrosse Tournament in the 1990's. The Friday 6:30pm game featured SBCC and Marymount College of Palos Verdes in the first California community college versus community college women's lacrosse game. It was also the first CC vs. CC women's lacrosse game west of the Mississippi.
