Moraga, CA- SOU entered St. Mary's College severely outmanned with only 13 players to SMC's  31 players.  As all SOU fans know the size of the roster does not determine who wins the game; heart, hustle, toughness, smarts and effort usually do and SOU demonstrated all of these on Sunday.

SOU struck first as #1 Morris found #22 Martin who ripped a high shot past the Gaels Goalie.  SMC answered back on a nice back door cut to tie the game.  Freshman #11 Running scored the first of his 3 goals on the day to regain the lead for the Raiders.  #00 Mason found an open #1 Morris on an EMO play for the Raiders to take the lead 3-1 at the end of the first.

Freshman #8 Mac Melcher scored his first career goal as #1 Morris found him cutting to extend the lead to 3 goals.  SOU committed back to back penalities giving SMC life as they tallied 2 EMO goals, followed by a quick goal off of a face off to tie the game at 4-4.  SMC took their first lead of the game but SOU answered back scoring while man down to tie the game at 5 going into the half.

#00 Mason got aggressive on the offensive end for the Raiders scoring back to back goals to take the lead 7-5.  The teams would continue to trade goals with SOU scoring with just 35 seconds left in the 3rd qt. to regain the lead 9-8.

SOU struck first in the 4th to push their lead to 10-8 as #1 Morris returned the favor finding #00 Mason on an EMO play.  SMC answered with 2 goals to tie the game at 10-10.  The two teams would trade goals again as #1 Morris scored 2 times for the Raiders but SMC answered each time scoring with just 1:26 to go in the game to tie it at 12-12 forcing OT.

SMC gained the first possession in OT but Sophomore Goale #24 Saechao made his most important save out of his 18 denying SMC right in front of the goal.  He then made one of his many impressive long clearing passes finding #00 Mason who cleared the ball and SOU took a timeout.  The SOU Coaches believed they could win their short stick matchups and put the ball in the hands of Freshman Midfielder #11 Bennett Running who dodged from X and beat the SMC Goalie earning SOU the victory.

LSM #9 Cuestas led the Raiders Defense with 6 caused turnovers.  #1 Morris led the Raiders scoring with 4 goals and 3 assists.

This was truly a team win!

Game ball went to our older newcomer on Defense #94 Patrick Rezzo who held SMC All-American Attack in check all game.

The win moves SOU to 3-0 on the season.

Next up for the Raiders is our first PNCLL South Divisional game at Pacific Lutheran University this Saturday at 5pm.
