Ashland, OR- The Lutes of Pacific Lutheran University traveled to Ashland from Tacoma, WA on Saturday for the Raiders first PNCLL South Division game of the 2018 season.  Freshman Attack #11 Spencer Burch got the Raiders going with a goal 4 minutes into the game as #2 Auberon Dones found him open inside the PLU defense. #11 Burch went on to score a hat trick scoring the Raiders first 3 goals of the contest. 

The first half was rather sloppy as the Raiders commited 15 turnovers while taking 16 shots.  The Lutes were able to capitalize on SOU's mistakes providing for a tie game at 4-4 going into the 2nd half. 

Senior #29 Spencer Pregal struck just 1 1/2 minutes into the 3rd for the Raiders.  Two minutes later Freshman #00 Jack Martin pushed a fast break dishing out his first career assist as he found an open #94 Connor Mason who put the ball past the Lutes Goalie. 

SOU's defense would post a 2nd half shut out led again by Freshman Goalie #24 Cameron Saechao who recorded 15 saves.  Senior defense man #12 Zach Humphrey stood out for the Raiders close D causing many turnovers and picking up a career high 6 ground balls. 

SOU had 4 different players tally their five 4th qt. goals to make the final 11-4.  With the win SOU improves to 4-3 on the season and 1-0 in the PNCLL South. 

Freshman #9 Roger Cuestas got the game ball for his effort, attitude, and 4 ground balls. 

Next up for the Raiders is another PNCLL South Division game as the Vikings from Portland St. University come to Ashland next Saturday; face-off time is 1pm.
