SOU Defeats Rival Western Oregon 15-9

SOU headed to Monmouth,OR to take on the Wolves from WOU on Saturday for the regular season finale.    The first qt. was back and forth with the Wolves striking first and the Raiders answering 3 times to make the score 3-3 after the 1st. 

SOU took their first lead in the game when Sr. Captain #7 Ari Feldman found Jr. Captain #29 Spencer Pregal who buried the ball.  Sr. FOS #6 Harley Humphrey would win the ensuing face-off and score unassisted with an off-hip ripper.  WOU answered to make the score 5-4, the rest of the half was all Raiders who scored 4 unaswered to lead 9-4 at the half.

The scoring slowed down in the 3rd as the Raiders found themselves man down for 4 minutes.  The man down unit did a great job killing a 3 minute non-releasable penalty and being 2 men down.  The Raiders added 2 goals and WOU put 1 in to make it 11-5 going into the 4th. 

Freshman #94 completed his double hat trick by putting in 2 more in the 4th (he scored all 3 Raider goals in the first).  In the end the Raiders won 15-9.

#29 Pregal led the Raiders with 4 goals, 5 assists and riding extremely hard.  #6 Humphrey won 17-28 face-offs, picked up 16 ground balls and scored once.  Game ball went to Sr. Captain #23 Taylor Harrison for his leadership on both the offensive and defensive ends of the field.  Harrison dished out 1 assist, picked up 8 GB's and caused 7 turnovers. 

The win sends the Raiders to Canada looking to defend their 2016 PNCLL Championship.  The tournament will take place at Simon Fraser University.  SOU will face the University of Great Falls in the first round on Friday, time TBD.
