Arcata, CA-  SOU kicked off the 2017 season by travelling to Humboldt St. Univ. on Saturday.    As always this game was a physical one.  SOU was able to control the ball as Sr. FOS Harley Humphrey won 19-22 face-offs.  Freshman Connor Mason started the scoring off with one of his four goals on the day from a nice feed by #1 Andre Morris.

The SOU Defense was solid for the majority of the day keeping Humboldt scoreless through 50 minutes.  In his debut as the starting Goalie #26 Zack Kowalski recorded 7 saves vs. 3 goals against.  The SOU defense held Humboldt without a shot in third qt.  SOU's Man-Down Defense was 6/7 on the day with the only goal allowed coming off of a 3 minute penalty in the 4th qt.

Sophmore Attack #17 Garrett Greenway tallied 6 assists, which was one assist shy of tying the SOU record of 7 in a game held by Tyler Baumann for a decade.  Sr. Ari Feldman matched Mason's 4 goal performance while Sr. LSM Taylor Harrison and Jr. Attack Spencer Pregal both added hat tricks for the Raiders.  Morris wrapped up the goal scoring with one of his own.

Final score 15-3 Raiders.

Game ball went to Sr. Defense #8 Jaren Breault for his physical play and help in the clearing game.

Next up for the Raiders is another trip to California as they head to Davis, CA to take on two top 20 teams.  On Friday night #14 SOU will be hosted by #17 UC-Davis.  On Saturday SOU will play #12 Cal. St. Fullerton in a neutral site game at Granite Bay HS.

Let's Go Raiders!!
