Santa Clara Wins Season Opener

On an otherwise rain soaked field, the Santa Clara Broncos opened their 2008 season with a convincing 19-6 win over the Pepperdine Waves .   Seven different players found the back of the net for the Broncos.  Sophomore Krista Shaw  (Denver, CO) led all scorers with 7 goals and 2 assists.  The Broncos opened the game with a 6-0 lead before Pepperdine's Courtney Schneck provided the Waves first goal of the game.  Santa Clara would finish the half with a 13-3 lead and then went on to outscore Pepperdine 6-3 in the second half. 

The Broncos next official game will not be until the Santa Barbara Shootout when they will open the tournament against the University of Oregon on Friday, February 15th.  Pepperdine moves on to play the defending WDIA National Champion Cal Poly Mustangs next weekend.
