BRONCOS ADD TWO TO COACHING STAFFJan. 23, 2008 The Santa Clara University Men's Lacrosse club has announced the additional of two new coaches to the staff; Dave Bayly, Navy '74 and Todd Fairlie, Widener, '06. Bayly brings an expansive lacrosse history to the Broncos. Originally from New Hyde Park, New York Coach Bayly graduated from This is actually Coach Bayly's second stint with the Broncos. He was an assistant coach under Bill Grubb, Jr. in 1996 during Coach Podesta's 4 year sabbatical from the program. He has most recently been an assistant at Originally from Broomall, Pa, Coach Fairlie is a 2002 graduate of Marple Newtown High School where he was a 4 sport athlete; lacrosse, football, ice hockey and wrestling. He attended Todd is currently playing professional lacrosse for the San Jose Stealth of the NLL and the San Francisco Dragons of the MLL. In 2007, he appeared in 8 games for the Dragons, scoring 4 goals and recording 12 ground balls. Fairlie was signed as a free agent this year by the Stealth and he was recently moved to the active roster. He hopes to dress this Friday in front of his new team who will in attendance as the Stealth take on the Calgary Roughnecks. Coach Fairlie will work with the midfielders, both offensive and defensive and handle the bench and substitution box on game day. "We are very fortunate to add coaches of Dave's and Todd's caliber to the program this year. They will bring new experience and energy to the squad as we develop into a more complete and rounded team and push for a WCLL playoff berth this season," added Head Coach Gary Podesta.
With the addition of Coach Bayly, the Broncos have two father/son combinations: Coach Bayly's son Kevin is a junior midfielder and Coach Podesta's son Michael is a freshman attackman on the squad.
