Inaugural Program • Boy's & Girl's Lacrosse Programs for 1st - 6th Grade Girls

Santa Barbara Youth Lacrosse Starts Monday at Mt. View School - Apr 1, 2010

File PhotoSanta Barbara, CA  - The inaugural youth lacrosse program of the Santa Barbara Lacrosse Association has been streamlined to one location that starts on Monday, April 5th. It will be at Mt. View Elementary School, Mondays and Wednesdays for six weeks, 3:30 to 5:00pm. Participants do not need to be students at Mt. View to particpate. Parents may drive their son or daughter in from anywhere. See the Spring 2010 Registration page for more information and to enroll.

A generous $5,000 donation to the SBLA has let us reduce our fees. Enrollment fees have been reduced by up to $75 for each level of registration. Instead of a $195 program fee to receive all gear included with registration it is only $125. for Girls and $100 for Boys (different start-up gear). The $130 "have some gear already" level fee is now only $80. And the $65 "already have almost everything" fee is now only $40.

The original plan to offer an after school program at each of the Goleta Union School District elementary school locations has been stifled a bit by the District policy that doesn't allow outside programs to send information home to parents of students. The SBLA is regrouping and starting the program at Mt. View in reaction to demonstrated interest on the part of Mt. View parents in having their sons and daughters get started right away on learning how to play lacrosse. If your son or daughter attends a different school and you would like to help us spread the word to other parents at that school then please come to Mt. View School and talk to us on Monday or Wednesday afternoon. Or contact SBLA President Rick Lehman by e-mail or by calling (805) 886-1822.

SBYLA Will Offer Boy's Lacrosse - Mar 16, 2010

Click To View More PhotosSanta Barbara, CA - The SBYLA will also be offering a boy's lacrosse program this spring. It will parallel the Monday and Wednesday girl's lacrosse after school schedule and be a Saturday morning activity.

The program fee is TBA due to the cost of boy's lacrosse equipment not worn in girl's lacrosse. This includes a helmet, gloves, shoulder pads and elbow pads. The SBYLA is waiting for a package price on all the equipment. News of the price will be posted here once it is available.

Please use our Spring 2010 Registration page to sign up for the program or to receive more information. Additional questions may be directed to Rick Lehman (President of SBLA) via e-mail.

SBYLA Girl's Lacrosse Starts April 5th - Jan 18, 2010

File PhotoSanta Barbara, CA - UCSB women's lacrosse coaches Paul Ramsey, Jillian Boyd and Donna Nagle are going to direct a new girl's lacrosse program in Santa Barbara in 2010. Ramsey and Boyd are targeting five elementary school locations to run After School Programs for girls in 1st - 6th grades starting Monday, April 5th. UCSB players will coach the girls.

The program will be similar to one run by Ramsey in Malibu when he was the head coach at Pepperdine University. Two days a week girls will come outside when class is over at their school and receive 90 minutes of fun lacrosse instruction from college players. The registration fee of $195 will include all equipment and practice gear. Scholarships will be available to families unable to afford the full registration fee.

Youth Girl's LacrosseThe SBYLA three year plan includes adding a grade a year (7th grade in 2011 and 8th grade in 2012) along with creating competitive cross-town competition among the 3rd grade and older age groups following established U.S. Lacrosse models.

If you would like your daughter's school to be one of our five inaugural locations please contact us.
