The Raiders Varsity had a good first quarter, getting 2 unanswered goals from Hugh Ryan and Captian Jeremy Suciu (assist from Liberkowski), and playing good tough defense.

In the second and third frames, however, ball posession was a problem, as the Mustangs were in the Roseville end most of each period and scored 4 goals while the Raiders only got 1 from Captain Drew Liberkowski, mid-way through the third to make it 3-4. There were a number of causes, but the Mustangs just seemed to have fewer passing mistakes, hustled more to ground balls, got good clears and won faceoffs.

Mounds View started out the 4th quickly, with a goal off a faceoff win and put the Raiders down by 2 goals at 3-5.  Liberkowski answered back just a minute later. The the final goal of regulation was a thriller. A non-call of a push by the Mustangs in front of the Mounds View net was followed by a turnover on their clear attempt and then an assist from Suciu to help Liberkowski get the hat trick with just 1:11 left in the 4th to tie the game. A few more shots wide of the goal by Roseville in the last minute closed out regulation, and sent it to overtime.

Roseville had some chances in overtime, but Mounds View played tough defense and broke free on a transition play and scored with 57 seconds left to end the 4-minute sudden death overtime frame a bit early and get away with the victory.

Not very many penalties (2 each side) were called in a game that saw a lot of crosschecking, and a few instances of slashes and players being run over.

The Raiders didn't do very well on faceoffs again (unofficially 2 for 11), but did win one critical one in the 4th quarter to provide a final posession in the closing minutes and stay in the offensive end of the field rather than the defensive end at the end of regulation. Mounds View led in shots on goal, unofficially 14 to to the Raiders 10, mostly as a result of the extra posession opportunites, although the number of Raider shots that went wide of the goal also didn't help this statistic.
