Panthers Lend A Helping Hand at Local Camp

Wexford, PA – The Panthers carpooled to the Woodlands Foundation on Saturday, February 4^th to help the grounds crew with various outdoor tasks and odd jobs. The trip is part of the ongoing community outreach effort by the Lacrosse team.

 “It’s great to be able to help out in our community in any way that we can, especially here at the Woodlands,” says senior midfielder Elliott Clakeley, who is also the team’s Community Service director. “We save the workers a ton of time and we actually have a fun. It helps bring us closer together as a team, too.”

 “The Woodlands is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and young adults with disability and chronic illness. Using its fully accessible and barrier-free facilities, The Woodlands' programs enable participants to experience social, cultural, environmental, recreational and spiritual growth.” (From the Woodlands website, found here.)

This is not the first time that Pitt Lacrosse has helped out at the Woodlands. The team visits every couple of months, occasionally even spending the night and helping out with regular camp activities. This is the last weekend without a game for the Panthers, so there was plenty of time for a short trip to the Woodlands. On February 11th Pitt will travel to St. Vincents College for scrimmages against the host and Seton Hill University.
