What is Mt. Pleasant Lacrosse Club?
Mt. Pleasant Lacrosse Club is a “booster club” formed in 2009 to support the growth of lacrosse in Mt. Pleasant, SC and beyond. A specific focus of Mt Pleasant Lacrosse Club is to support the newly formed Mt. Pleasant Youth Lacrosse League. The Town of Mt Pleasant Recreation Dept. "caps" the registration fee that can be charged to each kid "in any sport" (currently $38). This is why sports like football, soccer and now lacrosse form booster clubs.
Who are we ?
Many of us are former college lacrosse players, some of us are parents with kids who are playing lacrosse and still others have simply been attracted by our passion and determination to grow lacrosse in the area.
Our dream!
Our dream is to see the game of lacrosse grow and thrive in Mt. Pleasant and the greater Charleston region and beyond.
In doing so, we will see kids (both boys and girls) who will make lasting friendships with their lacrosse teammates and learn some important life lessons on the lacrosse field that they will draw on for the rest of their lives.
As the program grows there will inevitably be a few kids who will get scholarships to play lacrosse in college or gain acceptance to schools they otherwise wouldn’t have qualified for on the basis of their ability in lacrosse.
Most of us will never be thanked by these children but we will have the personal satisfaction of knowing that we were instrumental in giving some children a better opportunity to succeed in life. Most of us, at some point in the past, have been the beneficiaries of similar opportunities to succeed.
