SENIORS HONORED BEFORE LAST NIGHT'S GAME

Playing with lots of emotion, and a play-off berth on the line for the Warriors, Webb came out firing and took an early 4-2 lead in the second quarter.  The Red Wolves clawed back in the fourth, though, roaring back from down one to winning 8-6 at Warrior Field.

Before the game, seniors Teddy Anderson, Reggie Campos, Bobby Faulkner, Antonio Jones, Mack Lyon, Omari Powell, Jacob Ragland, Cedric Spence, Rufus Terry, Christian Tilley, Joseph Toto, and Justin Wilbanks were honored for their careers at Webb.  It is the first graduating class that features players who have been in the system for four years.

Cedar Ridge opened the scoring early in the first quarter, but that would prove to be the only goal in the opening 15 mintues.  As the second quarter began heating up, Webb found itself down 2-0 before Ragland took charge, dodged the alley and found twine for the Warrior's first goal.  This sparked a flurry of goals, as Jones used his spin dodging skills yet again for a man-up goal and Terry followed suite just a few minutes later, wrapped up by Brock Fuller, to give Webb a 4-2 lead with just a few minutes left in the half.  Cedar Ridge scored before the break, but were unable to cut the deficit any more as Webb took a 4-3 lead into the locker room, the first time it has done this against Cedar Ridge in school history.

Terry opened the scoring in the second half, pushing Webb's lead to 5-3.  Cedar Ridge answered two minutes later, but this would prove to be the only scoring in this quarter.

The fourth quarter was all Red Wolves, though.  After a goal just 15 seconds in to tie the game at 5, Cedar Ridge jumped ahead two minutes later for a 6-5 advantage.  Jones took a pass from Fuller to tie it again at 6-6, but Cedar Ridge used two late goals and several key face-off wins to take an 8-6 lead that would ultimately be the final score.

Jones and Terry each scored twice for Webb, while Fuller added two points and Ragland scored.  In cage, Christian Tilley ended his career's home schedule with 22 saves, many of them on the doorstep and point blank, to keep the Warriors in the game.  Five players caused one turnover each, while Fuller and Tilley led the team with five ground balls each.

The win moves Cedar Ridge to 8-6 with a game at East Chapel Hill looming, while Webb falls to 8-7 (3-4 Conf-4) and an away date at Roxboro Community School last on their schedule.

Game Notes:  Two goals is the lowest margin of victory ever in the series between the two schools...With a win by Webb and a lose by Cedar Ridge in their final games, the Warriors would advance to the state playoffs as a wild card berth...His points tonight give Terry an 16 game point scoring streak...Jones now has 20 goals on the season...Webb is now 1-3 all time in senior night games...Three ground balls is a career high for first year player Antonio Bowden.
