WIN IS WEBB'S FOURTH STRAIGHT OVER NORTHERN

After losing three straight games, and coming off a close loss to Eastern Alamance High School, the Warriors needed a win and got one as the Knights of Northern Durham traveled up I-85 and lost 5-2 to the host Warriors.  The win snaps a three game losing streak for the Warriors, who entered the second half of the season with a 6-3 record but now sit at 6-6 with tonight's win.

Webb got two first quarter goals, one from senior Teddy ANderson on a Jacob Ragland assist, and the second from senior Reggie Campos, the first of his career and assisted by Anderson, just 45 seconds apart.

The second quarter saw Ragland help get Antonio Jones into the stat sheet with a goal, a rocket shot from the right side of the field, just 33 seconds into the quarter.  Northern, however, fought back to score twice and cut the lead to one heading into the locker room.

The Black and Red defense, led by senior Cedric Spence's four caused turnovers and four ground balls, shut the Knights out for the remainder of the ball game.  During this time, Webb was able to get goals from Jones (Anderson assist), and from Brock Fuller on a Rufus Terry assist with 1:23 left in the game.

Antonio Jones led all goal scorers with two goals, while Teddy Anderson added three points to lead all point scorers.  Terry and Christian Tilley, who made 11 saves in the win, both picked up eight ground balls.  Cam Blanchard provided another solid (and in this case, dominating) performance at the face-off X, winning 9 of 10 draws.

The win snaps a three game losing streak for Webb and improves the Warriors to 7-6 (3-4 Conf-4) on the year, putting the Warriors one win away from post season eligibility.  Northern falls to 1-12 (0-7 Conf-4) and will travel to rival Riverside High School on Friday.  Webb next plays tomorrow night against Cary Christian School at Warrior Field, a rematch of an 8-7 loss at Knights Stadium in Cary last year.

Notes:  It is the fourth win in a row for Webb over Northern Durham...Northern last won in 2011 over the Warriors...Blanchard's winning percentage of 0.900 sets a new school record for winning percentage in a game...It is the second game this season (home vs. Orange HS) in which the offense has scored all assisted goals...It is the second game in a row that a goalie has led the team or tied for the team lead in ground balls (Tilley has 18 in those two games, while making 30 saves and allowing just 10 goals).
