JORDAN USES EIGHT AND FOUR GOAL RUNS TO WIN 12-3

After both teams saw a slow start to the game, Jordan used an eight goal run over the second and third quarters to help secure a 12-3 victory over the Warriors on Thursday night at Warrior Field.  It was the second meeting of the season between the Conference-4 foes, the first of which Jordan also won 12-4.

After a slow, back and forth first few minutes, Webb was able to get on the board first when senior midfielder Mack Lyon recovered a loose ball in the Warrior's defensive end, sprinted the length of the field, and found the back of the net on an alley dodge to give Webb the early 1-0 lead.

Jordan answered within minutes, however, but those two scores would prove to be the only tallies in the opening stanza.  The second and third quarters were all Jordan, though, as the Falcons controlled almost every aspect of the game and scored seven more goals over the second and third quarters to take a 4-1 lead at halftime and an 8-1 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Off the opening face-off of the fourth quarter, senior LSM Rufus Terry pulled two Falcon defenders down the left side of the field, snuck beneath them and got above the crease to end the Falcons scoring run at eight and giving Webb its second of the night.  Jordan answered with four more goals, though, before junior attacker Brock Fuller used a dodge from the wing to get open and find the net for Webb's third and final goal of the night.  With Fuller's goal, the score finalized at 12-3 in favor of Jordan.

Defensively, Christian Tilley led the team with seven ground balls while also making 20 saves on the night.  Justin Wilbanks led the team with three caused turnovers, while junior Cam Blanchard went 8 for 19 at the face-off X.

In the JV game, Jordan also prevailed 10-2.  Scoring both goals for the Warriors was sophomore Dallas Daniel.

Webb falls to 6-4 (2-3 Conf-4) on the year, while Jordan continues an impressive season, earning their 9th win (9-2, 5-0 Conf-4).  Both teams return to the field Tuesday night, with Webb traveling to Riverside and Jordan hitting the road to face Northern Durham.

Game Notes: 20 saves is the most by a Webb goalie since a 12-1 loss last April 23rd, when Tilley stopped 21...Blanchard's face-off numbers show an improvement of almost 10% over the previous meeting (last game: 6-18)...Lyon's goal was the second of his career...Webb's defense remains in the top 15 in the state after the match, in a three way tie for 14th (5.50 GAA; tied with Holly Springs High School and Lake Norman Charter School as of Monday, April 15th), while the team's total goal differential (+1.00) is good for 35th out of 81 teams.
