Warriors Score 11 Unanswered to Finish Game

Getting five goals from junior attacker Brock Fuller and four points from Jacob Ragland (2G 2A), Antonio Jones (1G 3A) and Rufus Terry (3G 1A), the Warriors won their second straight game to begin the season, downing the Southern Alamance Patriots 13-1 Monday night at Warrior Field.

The Warriors got things going early, getting goals from Fuller and senior Jon Greene on a dodge down the alley.  Southern responded quickly, though, rifling a shot home from range on a man up possession to cut the lead to one.

From there, it was all Warriors, as Webb owned almost every aspect of the game.  The Warriors took a 7-1 lead into the locker room and came out firing, netting two goals in the third before scoring four in the fourth quarter.

When the webmaster doesnt forget the game log when writing stories, a more detailed play by play will be up.  In the meantime, the Warriors got their scoring from Fuller, Ragland, Jones, and Terry, while Greene added his first Varsity goal since his freshman year, senior Teddy Anderson had two assists, and the freshman Ben Branch scored his second of the year on a nice dodge (and soaking an illegal body check for the fourth time that night afterwards).

Defensively, Ragland led the team in ground balls, picking up a new school record 16 on the night, while senior Cedric Spence caused four turnovers, as did Terry.  In net, senior Christian Tilley made 6 saves for his second win of the season, and junior face-off man Cam Blanchard won 10 of 14 at the mark.

Webb improves to a program best 2-0, while Southern falls to 0-1 on the year.  The Warriors next hit the field Thursday night, when they host Eastern Alamance High School (JV at 5 pm, Varsity at 7 pm), while Southern hosts Eastern Guilford High School under the Friday Night Lights.

Game Notes:  It was the first meeting ever for the two schools...Seeing game time for the first time in his career was senior defender Bobby Faulkner...Webb has three players with a half dozen goals each (Jones, Terry, Fuller), while Jones and Terry both have three assists, tied for the team lead with Ragland and Anderson...Webb has already almost matched half of last years assists (38) in the first two games (15).
