Warriors Participate in South Wake Pre-Season TournamentDec. 17, 2012 Warriors Finish 0-3-1 Webb traveled to Southern Wake County on Saturday to play in the South Wake Snowball Shootout, a pre-season high school lacrosse tournament, finishing 0-3-1 on the day. The Warriors played against teams from Holly Springs High School, Greenhope High School, Panther Creek High School, and Middle Creek High School. The day started early for Webb, with the Warriors facing Holly Springs and falling 5-1 in the first game, with senior LSM Rufus Terry getting the loan goal for the Warriors. Games were 30 minute running clocks with ten minute breaks in between. After having the chance to wake up, the Black and Red came out in the second game and battled Greenhope, getting an early goal from senior midfielder Jacob Ragland en route to a 1-1 tie. With Greenhope on offense most of the game, the Warriors defense stood tall and allowed just one goal in the game, with senior goalie Reggie Campos making several impressive saves, including one on the doorstep as time expired to keep the game at a tie. In the next game, Webb faced Panther Creek and fell 3-0. Despite falling down 2-0 early, the defense was able to settle down and play their game, keeping Panther Creek from getting many more quality shots during the rest of the game. In the final game against Middle Creek, the Warriors fell 5-1 again, this time getting a goal from freshman attacker Ben Branch, picking up a rebound in front of the cage and putting it home. The Warriors begin the season with their first official practice February 11th. Winter workouts will continue until that day and plays should see Coach Farabee or check the website calendar for times and locations.
