End of Season Awards Announced, All Conference and All Region Recipients Announced Also

Warriors Send Four To First Team Honors, One to Honorable Mention; First Ever All Region/All State Award Winner As Well

For the first time in the program's history, the JF Webb Lacrosse team have five members receiving All Conference honors, as well as having the program's first ever All Region and All State Award recipient.

Senior midfielder Matt Roach, junior defender Cedric Spence, junior LSM Rufus Terry, and junior goalie Christian Tilley all received 1st Team All Conference recognition for Conference 4, while junior attacker Antonio Jones received Honorable Mention honors.  It is the first time in the team's history that four players received 1st Team honors, five players total received honors, and a player received their second 1st Team award (Terry; 2011 and 2012).

Additionally, Terry was named 2nd Team All East Region as well as 2nd Team All State at his respective position.

Roach finished the year with 24 goals and five assists and graduates as Webb's all time points leader with 53 career points (35 goals, 18 assists).  He graduates holding Webb school records in goals in a career (T-35), assists in a game (T-4), season (T-10), and career (18). 

Spence finished the year with 40 ground balls and was second on the team in caused turnovers (34).  At one point, he tied the school record for caused turnovers in a game (6), in addition to earning his first career point, an assist against Eastern Alamance High School.  He is the first defender in school history to receive 1st Team recognition.

Terry finished the season with 23 goals, 8 assists, 153 ground balls, and 71 caused turnovers; he was second in goals and first in the other three catagories.  He set every defensive and ground ball individual records while tying the school record for points in a game (7 vs. Kerr Vance Academy), a game in which he scored the game winner in double overtime.  This is Terry's second consecutive 1st Team award, and his third All Conference selection overall (Honorable Mention, 2010).

Tilley finished the year with 265 saves, stopping 0.703% of his shots, with a GAA of 6.892 in 780 minutes of play, all school records.  His overall record of 8-8 sets the new record for wins in a season and winning percentage in a season.  This is Tilley's second All Conference award (Honorable Mention, 2010).

Jones ended the season with 12 goals and two assists, good for fourth in goals and tied for third in total points on the team.  This was Antonio's first year playing attack, and in his first two games scored five goals, including his first career hat trick in just his second start.  He finished the year netting a goal or assist in 9 of the 14 games he saw time in, while registering multiple points in four of them.

In addition to this, the Team Awards were announced for the 2012 season. 

Roach received Most Valuable Offensive Player after his breakout performance for the season.

Terry was awarded Most Valuable Defensive Player for the 2012 season.

Receiving the award for Most Improved Player were two young men: junior goalie Reggie Campos and junior midfielder Jacob Ragland.

Campos finished the year with 17 saves, a GAA of 9.143 (8 goals allowed), with two starts and stopping 0.680% of his shots.  He saw action in two games, both of which were starts, and had the game of his life against Riverside High School at home.  In this game, he managed to shut out the Pirates in the first quarter in route to making a career best 14 saves while allowing only six goals.

Ragland, in his second season of playing, scored 13 goals and added an assist.  He finished tied for third in total points (14) and third in total goals scored (13), while also picking up 35 ground balls and causing three turnovers.  He scored multiple points in three games, including two hat tricks: at Orange, where he scored every goal in a 4-3 loss, and against Northern Durham.
