1st Draft for New 2014 Lacrosse Conferences AnnouncedSep. 25, 2013 WARRIORS SET TO JOIN NEW CONFERENCE FEATURING NEW ADDITIONS NORTHERN VANCE, SOUTHERN VANCE If the current draft of proposed conferences stays true, the Black and Red's schedule could be drastically different in some areas and familiar in others for the foreseeable future. The proposed conferences, which can be found here, show the state organizing the schools along their more traditional conference alignments. Conference 4, Webb's previous lacrosse afiliation, saw them facing the likes of Jordan, Riverside, Northern Durham, and Roxboro Community School. Under the current proposal, the Warriors will join Cardinal Gibbons, Chapel Hill, Cedar Ridge, Northern Vance, Northwood, Orange, and Southern Vance in the new Conference 6. "This new conference set-up is exciting for us," said Coach David Farabee, entering his fifth year at the head of the program. "Gibbons and Chapel Hill are two exceptional teams that our guys have never faced and will provide them with great tests of their abilities and where they are in the development of their game. Cedar Ridge, Northwood, and Orange are teams we are very familiar with, having played them every year we have existed (with the exception being the 2011 season, which lacked a game against Northwood), while Northern and Southern Vance High Schools will be great to play simply for the chance to bring those rivalries Webb already has with those opponents to the sport of lacrosse." Webb played Northwood once last year, an 11-3 victory at the beginning of last season; the Warriors have never lost to the Chargers in four all time meetings, with their first meeting proving to be Webb's first win in school history. The Warriors have faced Cedar Ridge four times, with no wins in the series; their closest game was an 8-6 loss last year to the Red Wolves. Against Orange, Webb has won two of six meetings, winning two of the last three against the Panthers. Orange was Webb's first ever opponent, an 8-3 loss back on March 2nd, 2010. With eight teams, Conference 6 will get three play-off births, giving the Warriors a very good chance of getting into the post-season for the first time in its history.
