Jerome Lacrosse Announces signing of NCAA Division I Player

Steven Simonetti signs National Letter of Intent at the University of Denver

Dublin, Ohio, April 12, 2007 --- Dublin Jerome today announced that Steven Simonetti, the school’s second college Division I lacrosse player, signed a National Letter of Intent today to play at the University of Denver.

Simonetti, a 6’3” 215lb senior, 1st team All-Ohio Defenseman, lead the state’s top rated GA (goals against) team in 2006 while collecting 73 ground balls.  Steven returns for the Celtics 2007 campaign as a team captain.  In addition to his success on the lacrosse field, Simonetti lead the Celtics football team in touchdowns and was a team captain

The University of Denver plays in the GWLL conference and regularly faces Notre Dame, Air Force, and Ohio State.  In 2006 they won the GWLL conference and ended the season ranked 13th in the nation.

“Steven has been our quarterback on the defensive end of the field for three years and he should fit in very well at Denver.  His intelligence and game sense combined with his overall athleticism make him a ‘complete package’ defender,” said AJ Auld, Jerome’s head coach.  “Steven has worked very hard to become one of the best defenseman in the state and we look forward to watching him compete as a Pioneer for the next four years.”

Simonetti, a 3.7 GPA student, plans to study business administration while attending the University of Denver.
