April 21st, 2012 - GW runs over American 17-3

"Control" was the keyword of the Colonial's strategy during Saturday evening's contest at George Washington University's Mount Vernon Athletic Complex. Junior midfielder's  David Goscinak and  Maxwell Kollmer kickstarted every one of GW's offensive possessions by winning 100% of of the face offs. The Colonial's offense moved like clock work, dissasembling the Eagles defense to feed the crease on nearly half of their total goals. 10 of GW's 17 goals were made off of assists by 8 Colonial's players. Senior midfielder Nicholas Bryan earned a total of 8 points, off of 6 goals and 2 assists, for an all time career high.

Freshman goaltender Kyle Webb shutout American's offense in the second half, totalling 8 saves, and confidently securing the win for the Colonials. Great defensive play proved too much for the Eagles who, although scoring 3 goals, were unable to capitalize on any of the 4 man-up opportunities handed to them by GW. "We had been practicing a new man-down defense for the past two weeks and I think it came to fruition in today's game," noted Senior Defensive Captain Conor Gaffney.

Tomorrow, the Colonials will face-off against the Georgetown Hoyas in a DII semi-final conference game at GW.
