Emory Falls to Reinhardt in Season OpenerFeb. 11, 2013 WALSEKA, GA: On Saturday February 9, Emory Men’s Lacrosse took on divisional opponent Reinhardt College. In the opening few minutes of the quarter, Reinhardt scored three quick goals on Emory, requiring an Emory time out to settle down and address the issues leading to easy goals. Emory soon received a man-up opportunity and quickly took advantage of their situation with Ed Kovel netting the first goal for Emory off of a man-up play implemented by Emory’s recent addition to the coaching staff, Coach Fred Ritch. Unfortunately, Reinhardt continued to take advantage of fast break opportunities and lack of communication on defense and netted 6 unanswered goals in the second quarter. After halftime, Emory was able to gain more composure on on both ends resulting with a second half score of Reinhardt 7, Emory 5. Although the game ended up as a loss for Emory, Goizueta Business School Grad student Mike Embersit continued to shine, picking up four points with a hat trick and one assist. Emory looks forward to learn from their mistakes looking to improve. Emory will play two games this weekend, one against conference opponent Palm Beach Atlantic on February 15, and the other against divisional opponent Emmauel College on the 16th.
