ATLANTA, GA SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) Coaches stayed with the known and familiar in anticipating that defending champions Florida State and SCAD (Savannah College of Art & Design) will repeat as 2012 DI and DII Champions respectively. The two-time Division II SELC Champions from Emory University were slated 4th in this years' preason poll behind the SCAD Bees, Elon and Kennesaw State.

The divisional poll is based on from 1-20 points with first place teams receiving 1 point up to last place team receiving 20. Regional rankings work on the same basis;, the lower the point total, the higher ranked the team.

The SCAD Bees racked up only 22 points and snagged 14 1st place votes as the decisive top pick in DII. Elon University ranks 2nd, tallying 46 points and 3 1sts. Kennesaw State is 3rd with 74 points, followed by Emory (118), UNC Charlotte (131), Palm Beach Atlantic (132), Appalachian State (156), Davidson (162), Tennessee Wesleyan (168 pts/ 1 1st), and Coastal Carolina with 179 pts.

The UNC Charlotte 49ers are tabbed as favorites in the NorthEast Region logging 32 points and 13 1sts, ahead of Coastal Carolina (53 pts/2 1sts) and College of Charleston (61 pts/ 4 1sts). The NorthWest Region is led by Elon with 23 pts/ 18 1sts, with Appalachian State (57 pts), Davidson (58 pts), and Liberty (64 pts/ 1st) picked in a tight battle for second.

In the DII SouthEast Region, SCAD is the decisive choice tallying 19 pts/ 19 1sts). Palm Beach Atlantic (46 pts) is given the best chance of challenging the Bees. Kennesaw State is the pick to win the DII SouthWest with 29 pts/13 1st with Tennessee Wesleyan (45 pts/3 1st) and Emory (51 pts/ 3 1st) expected to contend.

Emory has twice won the SELC Division II title having won the conference tournament in 2007 and 2009. The Eagles have qualified for all but two conference postseasons since 2005 and advanced to the national quaterfinals both years they won the SELC crown.
