Emory Kicks Off 2009 Season With 24-0 Rout

Emory opened up their 2009 campaign with a rout over first-year team Mercer University. Despite the lopsided 24-0 score, it was a good experience for both teams. Emory used the opportunity to work on all aspects of their game against a non-MCLA opponent while Mercer was happy to get in one of their first games as a new organization. Much of Mercer's team is new to the game of lacrosse so a lopsided result is to be expected against an organization that has been together for years, and is comprised of experienced players. The Eagles’ defense absolutely shutdown the Mercer Bears serving up a shutout. On the other side of the field, the scoring came from all around with 14 players chalking up points. Emory worked hard to move the ball around and fine-tune the offense.


Both teams showed great sportsmanship during the blowout with few penalties and no injuries to report.
