SELC Welcomes Five New Programs to Division 2Oct. 2, 2007 ATLANTA, GA The 2007 SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference annual fall meeting proved to be quite a monumental day for lacrosse in the southeast. As the sport continues to spread like wild fire, five new southeastern colleges were accepted by the SELC to compete in Division 2 of the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association. The five new teams consist of Coastal Liberty University rejoins the conference after taking last season off, but unfortunately the SELC did lose one program from last year. The Citadel Bulldogs will not be competing in the SELC or the MCLA this year. The SELC would like to welcome the following new members to the conference: Coastal Carolina University, Georgia Southern University, High Point University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, and Tennessee Wesleyan College.The SELC would also like to welcome the return of Liberty University.The SELC for 2008 will consist of 33 teams, 16 Division I, 17 Division 2. All of the below are Division 2 programs. Due to the growth of Division 2, the SELC D-2 membership voted to realign the division into three regions. North Region: Appalachian State, Davidson, Elon, Central Region: South Region: Coastal Carolina, The top 2 teams in each region will qualify for the SELC Championships.
