Emory Wins SELC B Division TitleApr. 22, 2007 DULUTH, GA On April 22nd, Emory Men's Lacrosse won its first ever SELC-B Championship. The Eagles' appearance in the conference championship game was their first since falling to the University of South Carolina in 1996. The revitalized Emory Eagles defeated the UNC - Charlotte 49ers 12-7 in the finals at Northview High School.The 49ers were previously undefeated in conference play and through a tie breaker was actually the number one seed in the tournament. Emory has now earned an automatic bid to the national tournament at Pizza Hut Park in Dallas, Texas. For more information, please visit www.mclachamptx.com for tournament information. The Birds now stand with an overall record of 10-2 with a perfect conference record of 7-0. In other news, the University of Georgia Bulldgs defeated the Florida Gators in the SELC A division championship. Last year the conference champions were Eckerd College and Florida State. After sending two teams from the state of Florida to nationals last season, the state of Georgia will be proudly be representing the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference in Texas this year.
