Karl Schmidt joined the Emory coaching staff in the Fall of 2011 as an assistant coach before joining with Coach Carstensen as Head Coaches in 2012. Prior to coaching, Karl played as a long-stick defenseman for the Eagles in the 2011 Season. Emory recruited him as a graduate student to work towards a PhD in Neuroscience. Karl graduated from Davidson College in 2008 where he played 3 seasons as a goalie and maintains connections throughout the SELC.
