This past weekend, the Elon Men’s Club Lacrosse team won the Southeastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) Division 2 tournament and received a bid to the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) National Tournament in Denver, CO. The Phoenix secured the championship with wins over Tennessee Wesleyan College (16 to 8) and Kennesaw State University (12 to 10). Several members of the squad were named to the All-Tournament team including; Riley Bonsall (Attack), Colin Madden (Midfield), Ian Grady (Midfield), Mike James (Defense), Hunter Steadley (Defense), and Mike Meglio (Goalie). The Men’s Lacrosse Club has played in the SELC Division 2 Championship game for 3 consecutive years, winning in 2008 and 2010. This is the second bid the team has received to the MCLA National Tournament in the past 3 years.  

5 members of the Elon Men's Lacrosse Club were recognized at the All-Conference level this year: Mike James (1st Team Defense), Riley Bonsall (2nd Team Attack), Colin Madden (2nd Team Midfield), Hunter Steadley (2nd Team Defense), and Jeff Criswell (Honorable Mention Attack). 

Elon will kick off the 2010 season with a scrimmage versus the UNC Club team on February 6th at 3 pm on the Elon Fields.

Elon enters the 2010 season ranked 10th in the MCLA Division 2 by the MCLA Magazine Preseason Poll. 2009 National Champion St. Thomas starts off the season at #1. Several other SELC teams are ranked in the Top 23 inlcuding Emory (#5), SCAD (#17), Kennesaw State (#19), Charlotte (#20), and Coastal Carolina (#22).

Elon will travel to Mason, OH to meet #2 Dayton on February 12th and #13 Grove City College on February 13th.
