Emily Buckel is excited to kick off her coaching career for Cal Poly women’s lacrosse this year! Emily graduated from Cal Poly this past June with a Bachelor’s in Recreation Management, and wasn’t quite ready to leave San Luis Obispo. She currently works in Avila Beach and is excited for the opportunity to stay involved with the Cal Poly lacrosse program as their new head coach this year. Growing up playing sports, she has always looked forward to the day that she could give back and coach a team of her own.
Born and raised in Davis, CA, Emily started playing lacrosse her sophomore year of high school at Davis High School, and her love for the sport grew year after year. As a student at Cal Poly, Emily played lacrosse all four years, and is so thankful for the amazing opportunity and great memories she had as a member of the team. Emily helped lead her team as a captain three of her four years playing, and was honored to go to nationals her freshman year and be a part of the National Championship team in 2007. She also supported the team as the club Vice President and President her junior and senior year. Last spring she was named Second-Team All-League for the WWLL, and was recognized as a member of the All-Tournament Team at the 2010 National Tournament. Emily is looking forward to another great season with Cal Poly lacrosse and is excited to lead, teach, encourage, and coach her team of amazingly talented players this year.
Aside from lacrosse, and working two jobs in Avila Beach, Emily loves spending time with friends, and at the beach whether she’s surfing, playing beach volleyball or relaxing in the sun!
