AHS Varsity Lacrosse places second in GT 2011 Turkey ShootOut Tournament - Dec 13, 2011 (December 11, 2011): The Alpharetta Varsity Lacrosse team lost to Lambert 11-7 in the Georgia Tech 2011 Turkey ShootOut capping a great tournament that saw AHS go 5-1 over the course of the weekend. On Saturday, AHS faced off against a tough Watlon team winning 16-12, then coasted to a 13-2 victory over Starr's Mill, and finally beat a resilient Chattahoochie 15-11. Our 3-0 record on Saturday gave us the South Division #1 seed in the Championship Bracket going into Sunday. On Sunday, AHS scored victories against the Force (18-11) and Etowah (13-7) earning the right to play for the Turkey Shootout Championship before falling short against Lambert. It should be noted that we outscored our opponents 82-54 through the six games. Brett Grauss and Kyle Reed, combined, accounted for nearly half of Alpharetta's goals. However, this was truly a great team effort and we played well in all phases of the game. Kyle Seebolm made a number of spectacular saves in clutch moments as well. For AHS to place second in an 18 team tournament (featuring many of the best teams in Northern Georgia) is highly respectable and should give us confidence and momentum as we prepare for our 2012 Varsity Spring season.

AHS Varsity defeats Chattahoochee 6-5 in thrilling LB3 Final winning a second straight LB3 Championship - Nov 7, 2011
In true championship fashion, AHS Varsity Lacrosse defeated Chattahoochee 6-5, capping a four victory day last Sunday, November 6, 2011. This is the second straight year that Alpharetta has claimed the LB3 Championship, although this championship seems a little sweeter given that AHS entered the elimination Tournament as a fourth seed. The championship game was like a heavy weight boxing match as AHS and the 'Hooch traded goals like punches. Great goaltending by Kyle Seebolm kept AHS in the game.. Finally with under four minutes left, Brett Grauss broke a 5-5 tie with his second goal of the game giving Alpharetta the lead for good. Earlier in the day, AHS defeated Pope in the First Round 7-4, edged North Gwinett (5th seed) 7-4 and soundly beat Centennial, the #2 Tournament seed, 10-4, to earn the right to advance to the Final game. AHS exhibited great offensive and defensive play all Sunday afternoon. Dan Schefer and Brandt Grauss were the anchors to a solid defensive effort with both Kyle Kanzler and Kyle Seebolm superbly protecting the nets. Patrick Baldwin continued to dominate on face-off creating several face breaks that AHS was able to capitalize on with goals. Through the combined four games, Patrick and Brett Grauss led all scorers with 9 and 8 goals, respectively. Although we had at least ten other players contributing one or more goals throughout the afternoon. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the players for their dedication to LB3 and excellent play on the field this season. This team showed great resolve all season in winning or tieing a number of close games while playing its best lacrosse when it counted the most -- at Tournament time! The four victories on Sunday raised our overall record to 8-1-3.. A special thanks to coaches Dan Baldwin and Brett Grauss for their commitment to and support of our LB3 team this season with a quick shoutout to Mark Reed who helped coach two games including the Final. Again, Cheers to another Championship Season! Looking forward to seeing all of you on the lacrosse fields or in the stands this Spring. Go Raiders!
