First Annual Alumni Game a Success! - Feb 13, 2012

Whittier College Women’s Lacrosse hosted their first annual Alumni Game this past weekend.  “We had a great turnout and all the ladies had a great time” says Coach Williams.  “We are looking forward to building upon it in the future”.

The men's lacrose team played directly after the women and also had a great turnout.  It was great to see women graduates from 94’-11’ come together and still be able to play the fastest game on two feet and reminiscing about the programs history.  Here is a little glimpse of the game, you can see more pictures on our facebook page.

Coach Williams names 2012 Captains - Nov 1, 2011

Coach Williams has announced captains for the 2012 women’s lacrosse season. Congratulations to Junior Midfielder Carolyn Mukai (Northborough, MA) and Senior Defender Marlee Moffatt (Bellevue, WA).

Carolyn and Marlee have been voted on by their teammates and coach to lead our 2012 season said head coach Staci Williams.  "I am confident in these ladies and I am eager to see how far their leadership will take us as a team on and off the field."

In 2011, Mukai, a native of Northborough, Mass., played in and started all 18 games for the Poets and ranked second on the team with 53 goals. She dished out a team and conference high 44 assists for a SCIAC best 2.44 assists per game.  She also led the team and conference in ground balls, ground balls per game, draw controls, caused turnovers and caused turnovers per game with 52, 2.89, 89, 25 and 1.39, respectively.  2011 was the second year in a row that Mukai has been named to the All-West Region team. During her freshman season she was a second-team honoree.  In just two seasons with the purple and gold, Mukai has 121 goals and 56 assists for 177 points.  The team will look at Mukai to lead and support our overall goal both on the field with her vision and off the field with her positive winning attitude.

Moffatt a native of Bellevue, WA has a great sense of how the defense works and will be looked upon for her leadership in helping the underclassmen learn how to see the field and hear the goalie.  Many of the freshmen have taken to Moffatt as leader on and off the field with her outgoing personality.  She is always there to help and has the best interest of the team at heart.  Coach Williams will seek out her knowledge on the field and expect her to be big presence on defense.
