La Costa Canyon Mavericks Girls Lacrosse

La Costa Canyon jumped out to a 15-1 halftime lead on the strength of multiple goals from five players on Monday, en route to defeating San Marcos, 16-3, in a CIF-San Diego Section Avocado League game.

The Mavericks (5-1) have won four consecutive while San Marcos (4-2) lost its third consecutive.

Jackie Mills led all scorers with four goals and two assists while Blaire Bender (two assists) and Bridget Grubb scored three goals each. Kiki Gibson (two assists) and Megan Lax added two goals apiece for the Mavericks. (Savannah Boyne and Caroline Kovary (1 assist) had 1 goal each and Jenna Hempsey contributed three assists.) Gibson also had six draw controls.

LCC goalies Taylor Langston and Paige Soenksen combined for the win.
