Ballard Recap | 4-30-13May. 9, 2013 CAL Lacrosse finished up their regular season with a very busy week that included three games in four days. On Tuesday, 4/30/13, the Centurions took their five game winning streak to Ballard to face a very tough Bruin squad that is rated #4 in the state. CAL did not back down to the challenge and came right at the Bruins. The game was tied 2-2 after the 1st quarter, with goals coming from Ben Burchell and Trent Erps. In the 2nd quarter, two scores by Ballard put CAL down 4-2. The Centurions showed resiliency and answered back with two goals of their own from Joe Zieser and Andrew Frey. Some untimely turnovers lead to two more Bruin goals very late in the period and the teams arrived at halftime with CAL behind 6-4. Frey and Chad Lewellyn both added 3rd quarter goals. However, the Bruins rallied for three additional goals and built their lead to 9-6 by the end of the period. The final stanza saw more of the same. Zieser and Lewellyn each fired in their second goal of the game, but it wasn’t enough as Ballard continued to convert CAL turnovers into goals of their own. These untimely turnovers ultimately doomed the Centurions as the talented Bruins won with a final score of 15-8
