South Oldham Recap | 4-20-13May. 9, 2013 CAL hosted the South Oldham Dragons in a big match up on a cold, crisp Saturday. Where Thursday’s game showcased the offence, Saturday’s game offered an impressive defensive performance by CAL Lacrosse. The stout defense, anchored by goalie Alex Clark, shut down and frustrated the Dragons all day. The D-poles, Mason Paas, Sam Lee, Larkin Mann, Logan Dortch, Nick Stone Bill Jesse, and Matthew Purnell all contributed to the best defensive performance of the season, limiting South Oldham to an incredibly low 13.8 shooting percentage. There was still plenty of offense as CAL built a comfortable 6-1 halftime lead. Continued solid play had CAL up 8-2 with under two minutes to play. The final score was 9-4. Scoring was again balanced with Mark Highbaugh leading the way with a three goal “hat trick” performance; one on an amazing 30 yard pass and assist from Lee. Ben Burchell and Preston Gilbert both scored twice. Single goals were also scored by Trent Erps and Joe Zeiser. CAL Lacrosse will play next at KCD on Tuesday, 4/23/2013 at 6:00pm.
