Dunbar Game RecapApr. 21, 2012 Centurion lacrosse took on Lexington Dunbar in a division matchup on Saturday. Dunbar came out strong with a quick drive scoring the game’s first goal. Barrett Shutt followed with the first goal for the Centurions. CAL had plenty of shots, but had they had difficulty finding the back of the net. The Centurions were behind 4-8 at the end of the first half. In the 3rd quarter, two Centurion scores narrowed the gap to 6-8 and the momentum was with the CAL team. Dunbar struck back with two goals of their own and seemed poised to make a run when Coach Brock called a time out. Determined to keep the game from getting out of hand, the Centurions stayed within striking distance for the remainder of the game. Mason Paas irritated, Chad Lewellyn chased, and Zach Dannelly attracted defenders throughout the game while Trent Erps spent lots of time in the mud pit winning face-offs. However, Dunbar ultimately prevailed with a final score of 8-12. Other Centurions contributing goals were Ben Burchell (1), Zach Dannelly (3), and Mark Highbaugh (3). CAL’s record now stands at 4-3 and will visit Collegiate for their next game on Thursday, April 26th.
